Extreme Cinema!

Perverse Exploitation Horror with some abstract imagery, visions, and high-level Torture Porn with a strong Fake Snuff vibe. The film is somewhat reminiscent of No Reason (Olaf Ittenbach), but on a slightly lower level.

A woman hanging in bondage and using tape as a punching bag...starts off pretty crazy. Murder and necrophilia is a familiar combination...but always shocking. The scene with the homeless man at the beginning is pretty sick and full of gore!

It seems the perpetrator has been brainwashed through femdom BDSM, and the Demon Mistress orders him to cause misery. Personally, I also find it cool that there's not only male-on-female violence, but also female-on-male violence, because that nicely balances out all the sickening violence against women. The torture (which goes quite far and is fully depicted) used by the Mistress triggers a kind of psychotic mentality in the man to inflict as much suffering as possible.

The scene in the pub was great! The hard-hitting Brutal Death Metal in the background was fantastic! It also tells me the creators have good taste in music!

It seems to be about multiple phases in the main character's life, but this is very confusing... something about a boxing match, a strange way of preparing, psychosis, and revenge on an opponent or something... pretty vague!

Besides the vague story (which is still somewhat followable in the end), there is one huge plus and that is that the gore is really high level!

The ending shows that the man can now face his demons...okay, well, I'm surprised there's even a moral to the story!

With many plus points for the gore and still a nice storyline:

☆3.0

A messy mix of extreme violence and a sort of boxing drama plot. Director Felipe Eluti unfortunately shows little talent for editing, as Visceral is virtually impossible to follow due to the constant shifting of timelines. Of course, you don't watch a film like this for a good story, but it nevertheless results in a rather dull whole in which various characters occasionally meet a bloody end. Every shot is littered with gore, and some ideas go to extremes, but it's neither truly captivating nor convincing. Eluti seems to want to portray a kind of fetish on screen and plays a brave leading role within that, but with few redeeming qualities.
