Entertaining and atmospheric little film, the misty village has a lot of atmosphere and sometimes reminded me in a positive way a bit of the haunted house in the Efteling (that show)

The short running time also ensures that the film is never boring and that you as a viewer remain captivated by the screen.

Definitely a fun grab!

3.5*

Candlemass, Sabbath, Virgin Sacrifices, Burn the Witch, Black Mass, they could all be names of metal bands or titles of metal songs.

That's what I thought of while watching City of the Dead. But what an atmospheric film this is. The black and white adds just that little bit of extra ambiance. Of course, the fog machine was a bit overdone, making the effect a bit ridiculous. That's a shame, because it could have been more subtle.

Despite the high degree of predictability, this film managed to entertain me, partly because it was also presented smoothly.

Quite impressed with this black-and-white horror film. Well-constructed story, compelling cast, beautiful black-and-white photography, and plenty of suspense. 7.5/10
