The Best Bad Thing plot

Little Rinko has a happy accident during her summer vacation in the 1930s: she has to stay with the Japanese Mrs. Hata. She doesn't feel like it at all, but during her stay she learns all about the split situation in which Japanese immigrants live. On the one hand, they want to adapt to American society, while on the other they continue to cling to the Japanese tradition.
