No Burqas behind Bars plot

At Takhar Prison in Afghanistan, 500 male inmates are serving a sentence against 40 female inmates. The women stay with their children in a separate place; locked up in a prison within the prison. They live together in a mini-society where in many cases they feel safer than outside. The vast majority of them were sentenced to years in prison for fleeing from home, running away from spouses who cheated on them or seriously mistreated them. Filmmakers managed to film a period within the four meter high walls, during which we follow the fortunes of Sara, Nadjibeh and Sima.
