Le Bonheur des Autres plot

Jean-Pierre is perfectly happy. Evelyne, the young woman he's dating is pregnant. At a family dinner, with his daughter Marion, his son Sylvain and his ex-wife Louise, Jean-Pierre tells the good news, without imagining what a shock wave this causes. Marion who has been trying to get pregnant for two years without success, Sylvain who still reproaches his father for not having been there in his youth, and Louise thinks this is terribly unjust and accuses him of being an egoist. Évelyne, meanwhile, imagines Jean-Pierre as an old man and is no longer sure of wanting a child from him.
