Every Friday evening, a group of students from the prestigious Fudan University in Shanghai gather in the flat of their philosophy professor. Here they study sentence by sentence the texts of the ancient philosopher Confucius. They are part of a small but remarkable group of Chinese who believe in neither Chinese Marxism nor Western market forces. During the stormy developments that China is going through, they fall back on these age-old ideas for support and reflection.
