'This Ain't California' is a contemporary journey through the world of skateboarding in the German Democratic Republic. A story of three teenagers and their passionate love for a sport they practice on the crumbling asphalt in the streets of the GDR. The documentary follows the three from childhood in the 1970s, through the teenage uprising of the 1980s, ending in their last summer in the GDR in 1989 and changing their lives forever, before finally settling in 2011.
