Ankur plot
After finishing school in the city, Surya comes back to live at home. One of the reasons for returning to his parental home is that he is getting married. His father is a large landowner. Surya actually wants to continue studying, but is forced by his father to take over the management of a piece of his land. He also has to lead the workers who live there, from a lower caste. On his father's property he meets Lakshmi, who does the housework for him. When Lakshmi's husband leaves her, the bond between Surya and Lakshmi becomes more and more intimate.
