Watched the film Barricade (2012) yesterday.

Too bad you can't cast a vote that is 0 (zero).

Never seen such a bad movie! It's not even worth turning on your DVD player!

Just like with many films in any genre: typical American garbage!

Not bad at all, this claustrophobic horror film, which can also be called fairly original in terms of progression. Naturally, there are some clichés ... well, we saw the remote cabin in the woods before and of course half the time you are more shocked by the crescendos on the soundtrack than there is actually anything to scare, but we stayed until the end captivated.

Beautifully filmed, well acted, sufficient tension and surprise, some degree of originality, you can't expect more from a contemporary horror.

Director Andrew Currie opened his horror debut in a comical way in 2006, but his second genre film takes a completely different tack. Barricade is a typical, cold winter thriller with various horror influences. A fairly classic story of a family that has recently been bombarded by trauma and slowly notices that there is a certain threat surrounding the environment. In that respect, snowy Vancouver, where the film was shot, is an ideal choice. The cold is palpable, the atmospheric structure is impressive and Currie has several ominous scenes. Unfortunately, the negatives are a bit more excessive. For example, constantly interrupting the chronology has no added value and Eric McCormack acts with little conviction. Towards the second half, Barricade gets bogged down in an accumulation of flashbacks, horror build-ups and short-sighted ideas that never really become a coherent whole. The final death blow comes with the suggestive ending, which mainly achieves the opposite effect than what Currie probably had in mind.
