Road to the Big House plot
"He Took A Short-Cut thru the Darkness of Gangland"
It is 1929. The bank teller Eddie Clark is unhappy with his lot in life and is jealous of the wealthy George Bates, the ex-lover of his faithful wife Agnes. Eddie steals $200,000 from his bank with the intention of he and Agnes being in Mexico before the theft is discovered. Agnes tries in vain to persuade him to return the money. Eddie is captured and without it being revealed where the loot is hidden, he is sent to prison for ten years. Eddie hopes to live in luxury after that, but his case has received a lot of publicity and almost every fellow inmate tries to extract information about the location of the loot.
