The Fixer plot
"They accused him… They beat him… They condemned him… and after all that, they were more afraid of him than ever."
Russia 1911. Yakov Bok, a 30-year-old Jew, is falsely accused of murder. Political rulers want to use him, but he refuses to cooperate, even though he is tortured and humiliated. Portrait of a man who is initially peaceable and does not take sides, until circumstances force him to violent resistance.
