"A true love story."
Emily Chu studies at the University of Auckland. Her traditional Chinese parents want her to become a doctor, but Emily secretly pursues a career as a filmmaker. While fencing, she then meets James who is just as much of a nerd as she is. The two fall in love and Emily proposes to get married secretly. At least she doesn't have to introduce her white boyfriend to her strict parents and she can still get a scholarship to take film courses. Ultimately, however, Emily will have to reveal her secrets and confront her mother and father.
