Il Castello plot
Observing documentary about the daily goings on behind the scenes of Milan's Malpensa International Airport. An airport as a metaphor for a society, where basic freedoms are under pressure due to bureaucracy, procedures and control.Long, silent shots of an abandoned arrivals hall, control cars driving over the runway, a customs officer inspecting live lobsters for their physical condition, while in interrogation rooms to check human entrails for drugs. In Il Castello we observe the day-to-day running of the Malpensa airport in Milan. We see how various authorities carefully monitor order and safety at the airport. Soldiers receive special training to prepare them for possible terrorist attacks. Police dogs sniff the baggage that has been brought in and the explosives disposal service takes care of a suspicious suitcase. While the airport staff strictly monitor that the import and export of people and goods is carried out according to strict regulations, an elderly lady appears to have made one of the public toilets her new home.
