A Chump at Oxford plot
"Figuring out a grand time for you!"
As a reward for foiling a bank robbery, the boys are offered an education at Oxford University. When Stan Laurel gets a sash on his head, he suddenly turns out to be the brilliant scholar Lord Paddington, who once lost his memory after a similar accident. Ollie becomes the Lord's servant.

Together with Our Relations (1936) and The Flying Deuces (1939) my favorite Laurel & Hardy movie! And especially when Stan Laurel turns into Lord Paddington! It's actually unbelievable that such old movies are still so entertaining for young and old.

Perhaps this is the Laurel and Hardy movie in which Stan shows his acting talent the most.
A great role when transformed into an arrogant snob as a miles away opposite
of the usual Stan, and repeatedly amusingly offended Hardy with it as well
to arouse annoyance.
The run-up consists of a few parts that could have easily grown out as well
to individual short films like the duo has also made countless, when finally a single banana peel manages to lead them to Oxford University.
The long maze scene is also wonderfully amusing, followed by Stan's stunning metamorphosis.
It's a pity that many of their shorter films can't be shot here. below
Others The Music Box, Towed in a Hole, Blotto, Brats, Perfect Day, Helpmates and Them Thar Hills
as far as I'm concerned, can also be counted among the highlights of their oeuvre.

Over the years I have seen quite a few films by De Dikke en de Dunne. In my humble opinion they are timeless. That is always laughing, screeching, roaring. I think this is one of their better movies. Stan in particular is in top form. “Show me the exit”. Masterful.
