Documentary about the life of Russian trappers in the village of Bakthia on the Yenisei River in the Siberian Taiga. The film follows the people of the village for a year, to the rhythm of the four seasons, each with their own characteristics and challenges. Village life, routine and traditions have remained the same for hundreds of years. In the spring, the mighty river begins to thaw and emerge from beneath the ice with great cracking and roaring. Summer is the fishing season, and that of the mosquitoes. Autumn brings endless rain: the time for the villagers to carry their supplies further into the forest. They are preparing for the long and hard winter.
