The Island President plot
"Can this man save the world?"
When, after more than 30 years, a mass uprising forces dictatorial President Maumoon Abdul Gayoon to hold fair elections, his power comes to an end. The new president will be Mohamed Nasheed, one of the main critics of the former regime, and he promises major reforms. However, he has to change his plans when he learns that the Maldives will be completely submerged within a few decades due to the rise in seawater. Together with his cabinet and his closest advisers, he is preparing for the UN Climate Summit in Copenhagen in 2009, where he is determined to convince international powers (including neighboring India) of the need to reduce CO2 emissions.
