Breakaway plot
A private investigator, Duke Martin (Tom Conway) becomes involved in the kidnapping of a young woman. However, things get more complicated for him when it turns out to have to do with a stolen formula. Martin must use all his strength to bring the case to a successful conclusion. If he succeeds at all, because the secret service is also involved.

A decent B-movie starring Tom Conway as the amiable but tenacious private detective and charmer Tom "Duke" Martin (essentially in his previous role as The Falcon in all but name) and, for the humor, Michael Balfour as his sidekick Barney (clumsy when the script calls for it, handy with his fists when Martin asks for it). The plot revolves around an ultra-secret formula smuggled out of Berlin to combat metal fatigue, but the precise form in which that formula is cast remains unclear for a long time, which is just as well given the many different villains naturally after it, including the otherwise unknown to me but equally impressive and massive Alexander Gauge. Intrigue, chases, brawls, and romance—all executed at a high pace and without too many surprises, at least in terms of plot, but there is still plenty to enjoy regarding the cast, for Conway's love interest is none other than Honor Blackman before she would gain fame through The Avengers and especially Goldfinger, and although she would have to wait another eight years for the role of Pussy Galore, she is already otherworldly beautiful right here. Furthermore, we also see Arthur Lowe in a small role; perhaps difficult to spot in his darkroom, but fans of Dad's Army will recognize his unmistakable, slightly nasal and ironic voice from a mile away. More than enough points of reference, then, to enjoy this production. (What the title has to do with the plot, by the way, is unclear to me.)
