Punaisen Metsän Hotelli plot
In rural China, farmers are intimidated to give up land for forestry. One of the companies guilty of this is the Finnish-Swedish company Stora Enso, which is planting water-consuming eucalyptus forests for a future pulp and paper mill. The filmmaker travels to the area in southern China to speak to farmers, and finds himself in an absurdist situation in which friendly propaganda workers want to provide 'unbiased and objective information from the government'. They advise him, among other things, to book a holiday by the sea. In the meantime, the people he makes contact with are arrested or sent on 'vacation'...
