"She's the only witness to the murder ... and the murderer is right behind her."
A beautiful young woman is driving her car home on the highway. It's late at night. During a stop, she witnesses the murder of a police officer. Shortly afterwards, she finds to her horror that the perpetrator is chasing her. She has to run from this dangerous madman.

Great and very exciting TV thriller with a world role for Valerie Harper, the film gets under the skin and is very oppressive.

The comparison with Duel by Spielberg, which is 6 years older, is easy to make. Yet this film quickly falls short without discussion. Not that this Night Terror is abominably bad, but this work feels rather standard.
A road movie horror is a limited niche I have the impression. This is seen by some as horror, but it never really gets scary. More of a thriller, but sometimes the lines are thin (not so much here).
It remains entertaining and with its limited playing time it is good to keep the attention. It remains a strange idea of the pursuer to want to eliminate the lady. He was not recognizable to her anyway. Moreover, his car had already been signaled by the police.
Quite nice and exciting, but there's nothing more to it than that.
