Very cool.

It takes a while to get used to this movie. It is clearly a project in which the two brothers have invested a lot of time, and it is also clear that they gave everything here, in the hope that it was enough to launch a career.

This makes for a wonderfully unbalanced film where not everything comes out equally well, but at the same time it is also so wonderfully busy and animated that there is always something to see and you can always enjoy the great ideas of the brothers.

It may be a "vampire film", but it has little to do with typical genre films. A great piece of cinema that is packed with cool ideas. You can easily remove the kinks afterwards.

Those brothers have great talents.

4.5* and a extensive review

That's right, I thought of Godkiller several times, although I also understand your The Spirit comparison in the long review. Grim stuff, but also not serious at all and completely crazy.

Almost turned off the movie for the first fifteen minutes. Act normal? One character is acting with a greasy grin, the other looks as if he has to poop. What am I looking at? Add to that the fact that the film shoots back and forth like a pinball machine from style to style right from the start. It's quite tiring, to say the least.

We take some comics, crazy glitchy images (= COOL), scenes that have been put through tons of filters and snow landscapes where the snow flutters up, that's just a small example of the crazy pinball machine that comes along here. The soundtrack seems a bit more stylish, but fits in with the flow of images. It doesn't really get any calmer.

There is a story too, yes, logic sometimes seems to be lacking and there is no thick plot to speak of. Something about a master vampire's sidekick who discovers he has free will? That's it in broad strokes. All this serves as a framework on which to hang Guy Ritchie humor, pinball visuals and even some Underworld-like fight scenes (correct me if I'm wrong, this looked a LOT better of course, maja). Seeing is believing, because I can write down more, but I think I'll keep going around in circles.
