Nice,

but.... doesn't come close to that other beautiful fairy tale Valerie and Her Week of Wonders. It is not Cinderella's fault (Libusše ŠSafránková) nor Cinderella's animals, such as the horse, the dog, the owl and the pigeons. What prevents me from giving this film a high rating are the hideously kitschy costumes. The music didn't appeal to me either. And... shooting a beautiful fox is really not possible. But Cinderella is a beauty and I love beautiful young ladies in a fairy tale like this. In any case, it is enough for me to rate this film above average.

3.5*

Playful and fresh version of the well-known fairy tale and what a sweet Cinderella Libuse Safránková is, but she is also bright and firm and knows what she wants.

What such a film always has is that it warms the heart when someone who is wronged still triumphs and the evil opponents literally end up in the ditch, but there is of course the cinematic quality of this film that starts with a Breughelian scene and immediately draws you in. sets the mood for a well-crafted film. And that it is with beautiful pictures in the snow, the hassle of madam from the farm, an elegant and funny court party, decent performances and the music wasn't too bad, I thought.

Something completely different than usual from Czechoslovakia in the 1960s and 1970s, but as said, a lot of fun can be had from the frisky performance of 20-year-old Libuse Safránková. Already saw her in "Vrchní Prchni!" (1981), albeit somewhat in the shadow of Josef Abrhám, her husband in life.

The lovely Libuše Šafránková is the shining center of this Cinderella film. Beautifully designed, but compared to other film adaptations of this age-old fairy tale, not very special to my taste.
