The Man Who Crossed Hitler plot

In the summer of 1931, with Germany on the brink of economic collapse and Berlin turning into a paramilitary war zone, young prosecutor Hans Litten (Stoppard) summons a key witness to a trial of Nazi criminals. Despite the danger to his own safety, and against the advice of those who love him, Litten forces new political player Adolf Hitler (Hart) to make a rare appearance on the witness stand of the Berlin court. Litten tries to expose the true nature of Hitler and his politics to the German public; in a humiliating and hostile cross-examination, Hitler is forced to give an account of his political beliefs, his apparent disregard for the law and his desire to destroy German democracy.
