Il Maestro di Vigevano plot
Although Mombelli is content with his life as a primary school teacher in Vigevano, his wife Ada forces him to try something new. He invests all his capital in a small family member's shoe factory, but an unexpected, wrong tax bill completely ruins the company. His wife leaves him and, disillusioned, Mombelli returns to primary school. However, even more misfortune awaits him.
