Excellent film that has many parallels with the current Corona virus. The film has/had the science of the 1918 Spanish flu (probably also a Chinese virus) SARS and the bird flu. I had already seen Contagion twice, but just now had to watch it again. And also in the extras it is painfully clear that the scientists knew well in advance what if it was going to be a pandemic. Man and animal there lies the key. When you consider how many ranchers we have here, it's pretty scary. Aside from the nitrogen, but that's another discussion.

I find the movie "pleasant" to watch. Easy to follow despite the flashing images, but this way everything is mapped very well. The nervous sound around it also works well. Starting with DAY 2 I also found a good one to end with DAY 1. The question is whether we will discover the origin of the Corona virus. Bats are often major sources of disease. Contagion looks further away pleasantly and fortunately we do not always see people coughing. We also hear social distancing here, but with at least 2 meters or more away. Also find our current 1.5 too short. Anyone who coughs a lot can spread far and that is further than 1.5 meters. Washing hands well, the whole list also comes back in a 9-year-old film. Indeed fiction? sometimes very close to the truth.

Very prophetic film comparable to the current pandemic we are in now, but with many more deaths.

Even graphs with curves, lockdowns, scientists and conspiracy theorists are covered.

The search for the vaccine is very bumpy.

The very spectacular images of the outbreak and discovering patient zero with all kinds of gadgets is delicious pulp.

Still, it's a shame that such a promotional film for the pharmaceutical industry was made 9 years ago with a monster budget. ($60 million)

Watched this recent movie (2020) last night. Let me say it plainly: it looks like a weak remake of Contagion (2011), you may be familiar with it. Many elements are literally copied from that excellent Steven Soderbergh film, such as the search for patient number 1, the worldwide race for a vaccine, countries that want to outdo each other, well I could go on like this because there are countless (too many ) agreements.

I think a weak point is that the makers focus even further on the inexplicable mistrust among the general public (masks, conspiracy theories) while the death rates are rising in the meantime. The fact that you can follow it "live" on the website worldometers.info is genius marketing, and was an important reason for me to want to see this film. The hoarding of toilet paper was hilarious, but doesn't really fit into a serious movie.

Unfortunately, this remake lacks well-known actors, we have to make do with B-stars and amateurs. I found the subplot involving the narcissistic US president rather far-fetched. Very unlikely they would push the WHO aside!

Oh yes, a big miss is the incubation period of 2 weeks, such a tension really doesn't work in a blockbuster, Soderbergh saw that better because there we didn't have to wait so long until people went out. Furthermore, it's a shame that they keep coming up with bats in these movies. Think of something else, use your imagination, I'd say!
