"From An Age of Conflict...A Film For The Ages!"
During the 30 Years War, Germany turned into a battlefield. Wherever the teacher Vogel goes, he sees nothing but destruction. In the mountains he finds a paradisiacal Alpine village that is targeted by marauding soldiers. Vogel convinces their chief that it is smarter to use the village as a winter quarters. Vogel acts as a mediator, but after the winter unrest arises when the chieftain appoints Vogel as commander.
