Tatsumi plot
In post-war, American-controlled Japan, young Tatsumi's passion for comics becomes a way to support his poor family. His work was published as a teenager, but he draws even more inspiration from his encounter with his idol: the Disneyesque artist Osamu Tezuka. Despite his steady success, he continues to wonder why Japanese comics only serve the young audience. In 1957 he coined the term 'gekiga' (dramatic drawings), redefining manga by promoting an alternative genre for adults.
