Ratings are for the film as a whole. So-called "turkeys" like Glen Or Glenda? or Robot Monster give me much more viewing pleasure than all that standard action pulp. A film that is so bad that it becomes good again can get 4 or 5 stars from me.

Incidentally, the producer's motivation for making the film was the first transsexual American (Christina Jurgensen), who briefly became a "star" in the fifties. It was not until shortly after that that serious research into transsexuality was done. It was not until the sixties that the first standard work on transsexuality (The Transsexual Phenomena) was published. Before that, the term did not even exist.

Glen is not a homosexual. Glen is a transvestite, but he is not a homosexual.

My second Wood, and Wood goes deep.

Very entertaining this, passion bursts from the image, but unfortunately or fortunately in combination with Edward's (lousy) technique and structure. Various (also existing) images are thrown together, contentless voice-overs and very bad actors: to die for so yummy. Compared to Plan 9 a lot less interesting, but Edward delivers a moral in his story, very clear and literally worded, but oh-so-well-intentioned. The story shakes nicely back and forth, but in my opinion it could have been a bit more control compared to Plan 9, where everything was really put into it, while here a bit less is done. Less is more, but still completely unnecessary scenes that had nothing to do with the story (Edward just thought the images of the army were beautiful and used it for that reason, haha). As mentioned below, the dream is a slight highlight, Edward really did his best as a ''professional''.

Very difficult to judge, but then I will give this a 2.5 via the Edward-rating. Glenda tastes like more!

Seen this after Burton's Ed Wood. Nice to recognize certain scenes from that film. And no, the film is not good but not super bad either. The film looks about 20 years older to my mind, but that does add some atmosphere. In any case, a project with courage and clearly from someone who wants to tell a lot. I appreciate that. Visually also beautiful now and then with high-contrast black and white and one nice moment with that Pull the strings in which the bottom of the image shows the people and above that Lugasi. Nicely done. But further in terms of pace, acting, dialogues all not very uplifting and simply very boring. Due to the short duration still watchable. 2.0*.
