The Barkley Marathons: The Race That Eats Its Young plot
The Barkley Marathons, a 60-hour race that revolves around physical and mental stamina, is designed as a secret race. First you have to find out for yourself how to sign up, then you have to pass a test and then the real thing begins: a long trek through the Tennessee wilderness, where you have to complete five extreme marathons in less than two and a half days without a card or signposts. In the 25 years that the event has existed, only ten people have made it to the finish. This documentary follows a handful of participants, each with their own reasons and motivations, as they try to make it to the finish line.
