12-year-old Andy Nichol is a bright student who, like most kids his age, will do anything to avoid conflict for fear of bullying peers at his school. Everyone's favorite teacher Simon (Ed Harris) decides to have him team up with the biggest misfit in the class on an important project. That misfit, better known as 'Big G', has orange hair, a head too big for his body and ears too big for his head; the typical example of how you'd rather not be. Just as Andy begins to figure out why he and Big G were brought together, Simon falls victim to some vicious gossip, while Big G is confronted by the school bully...
