Young and cynical journalist Susan Allison (Jennifer Love Hewitt) discovers a story that will change her life forever. When World War II separated two lovers, Neil and Caroline, on their wedding day in 1944, pilot Neil Thomas made a promise he wasn't sure he could keep. The promise was to return safely to that same Los Angeles station on their next wedding day. For sixty years, Caroline Thomas keeps her promise to Neil, by waiting at the station, until her long-missing husband finally keeps his promise to his 'lost lover'.
