Renoir, au delà de l'Impressionnisme plot

Around his fiftieth birthday, artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir settles in the south of France. Renoir, one of the pioneers of Impressionism, is now successful and famous. At this point he leaves impressionism behind and develops further in the direction of his idols: Rubens, Titian and Vélazquez. The documentary paints a picture of the late years of an artist who continued to experiment until the very end. The story is illustrated with images of Renoir's own work, that of his artistic heroes and that of the young painters who admired him.
