I love the original and was anxious to see what such a remake could do. Unfortunately not much I have to say. The soul has been taken out of the film and the actors are quite bad. Ariel is more of a slut than a free-spirited teenager who plunges into life unhappily after her brother dies. The makers want to give it a modern touch with the music that doesn't exactly suit this film. When Ren dances it seems as if he hears different music. And it's nothing compared to Bacon's performance.

From the petition, the film actually becomes somewhat interesting. And even the line dance and Willard learning to dance are actually fun. But that doesn't quite save the film, unfortunately. In itself, this remake is still nice, but poorly acted and a director who doesn't know what to do pull the film down.

The original 1984 version of Footloose is quite a nice music and dance film about teenagers in America and the generation gap between them and their parents. This is rather a weak clone of the original with a sluggish story, a mediocre soundtrack and ditto acting. Actually, only Miles Teller and Ziah Colon are doing well. Overall, a bit of a waste of time and effort.

Three years ago, a group of young people from the town of Bomont died in a car accident after a party. Thanks in particular to Pastor Shaw Moore [Dennis Quaid], whose son was one of the victims, a curfew has been imposed on all young people up to the age of 18 ever since. Also 'inappropriate activities', 'listening to vulgar music', not to mention 'obscene and lascivious dancing' are prohibited. After the death of his mother, Boston-born teenager Ren McCormack [Kenny Wormald] moved to Bomont to live with his uncle [Ray McKinnon] and aunt [Kim Dickens]. Soon, Ren befriends Willard [Miles Teller] and Ariel [Julianna Hough], Shaw's rebellious daughter. Together they decide to try to abolish the rules. Remake of the popular, but not too great 1983 film of the same name does contain a lot of pop music for a film that is about the lack of it. Moreover, it seems that despite the dance ban, Bomont seems to be chock full of professional dancers. Completely predictable and not to be taken seriously. Miles Teller is nevertheless entertaining as the burly, but ultimately sympathetic Willard.
