The Sinking of the Laconia plot
Film adaptation of a true incident during the Second World War. When the warship converted cruise ship RMS Laconia is torpedoed, the crew of the U-boat offer assistance to the survivors, as is customary. However, the Americans decide to bomb the U-boat full of refugees. The ship was carrying British and Polish soldiers, civilians and Italian prisoners of war. 1,621 people died in the attack and 1,104 people survived the attack. Now that it becomes clear that the Americans are also attacking U-boats with rescue missions, the German admiral orders to stop offering help to survivors of attacked ships during the rest of the war.
