Helene, een Vrouw tussen Liefde en Kunst plot

Helene Kröller-Müller built one of the most important art collections in the world in the early twentieth century. With the money her husband Anton Kröller earns in the emerging world port of Rotterdam, she buys more than 11,500 works by Van Gogh, Mondriaan and Picasso, among others. Based on thousands of personal letters that she exchanges with her mysterious soul mate Sam van Deventer, this documentary offers an insight into her passions and her turbulent life. In this film, documentary shots are alternated with scenes in which actress Eva van Heijningen takes on the role of Helene Kröller-Müller, creating a penetrating image of the country's most famous collector.
