Also seen it once a few years ago...indeed a vague film.

This just goes to show that tastes can differ greatly...and that's a good thing .

I didn't think the sound and image were that great at the time.

I can't give it more than 0.5 stars.......a terrible movie.

Mieter Inland Empire, Silent Hill and Pop Skull in the blender and you get something that looks like The Oregonian. Bizarre and fascinating film. I liked it a bit better than The Rambler, but that's mainly because the setting was less to my taste. Fortunately, the cowboys in this film are limited to a manageable amount for me.

Terrifying sound design and numerous salvos of manic, alienating editing are the biggest mood makers here. Add a solid dose of Lynchian weirdness and you have a film that lovers of surrealism (including me) can feast their eyes on. Unfortunately, the film is not perfect, for that I sometimes found it a bit too much like a poorly shot home video in terms of color use and stylization. Some scenes certainly manage to rise above that level, but it could have been a bit more in that area. Fortunately, this film is another example of how important a strong soundtrack can be, because a lot is compensated for with the chilling sound. At times to give you the shivers.

For now, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt with a small 4*, because nightmare cinema like this just has an edge with me.

''Creative mess.''

TO (2011): a film that once again got me on the edge of my seat. Effective story, bizarre characters and here and there lousy acting but that does this film credit I think. In short: wonderfully crazy and super vague.

The Oregonian: a special film that is not for everyone.

Four and a half stars from me.
