Twelve-year-old Luuk, raised by his single mother Dorien, has heard that his father is the Strongest Man in the World. When he meets Strong Man René, who has red hair like him, he thinks he has found his father. But then Dorien confesses the truth.

Good film in which a boy does not know who his father is, and his mother has always told him that he is the strongest man in the Netherlands. And this search for his father has the necessary surprises. A particularly sympathetic youth film that is certainly fun for everyone (partly because it never becomes childish).

Luuk [Bas van Prooijen] only knows his father from the tall tales (literally and figuratively) that his mother Dorien [Suzan Boogaerdt] tells about him. When he discovers at a competition for the title of 'Strongest Man of North Holland' that title candidate René [Loek Peters] used to have the same red hair as he does, Luuk wonders whether René might be his father. When Dorien is forced to tell him the truth about his father, Luuk decides to search for his biological father with the help of school friend Minke [Yenthe Dirks]. The search is a bit too easy (the potential fathers all seem to live within cycling distance and there is absolutely no question of protecting personal data in this universe), but the young cast does a solid job and Boogaerdt is endearing as the well-meaning but somewhat socially awkward mother.

Bought this a while ago for a song and watched it now. I didn't know the film, but thought it was a great family film. The film is a bit more aimed at children, but is certainly also suitable for an adult audience. The cast did a great job and it looked good.
