Spring 1941 plot
When the Germans invade Poland in 1939, the Jewish doctor Artur and his family urgently have to flee the capital. It is difficult to find shelter in the countryside, but they find shelter on the farm of the young Polish farmer Emilia, whose husband has not returned after the fighting with the Wehrmacht. While the mother and daughter hide during the day, Artur lives in the court as Emilia's cousin and plays the role of master of the house. But an affair develops between the two. And other, very dangerous developments are not long in coming.

Just a good movie in which Clare Higgins steals the show as the older Clara. Already in the opening she knows how to hit a sensitive chord with her cello. It certainly won't be melodramatic. Clara's trauma as a Holocaust survivor is moving. I shed a tear at the closing cello concerto in B minor by Dvorak.
