The Myth of the American Sleepover plot
Set against the backdrop of residential blocks, abandoned factories and lakes that make the city of Detroit what it is, this story follows four young people as they search for love and adventure on the last night of summer. Maggie, Rob, Claudia and Scott cross paths as they explore the suburbs for a first kiss, elusive love, popularity and parties. They seek the iconic teenage experience, but instead discover the quiet moments, which are that part of their childhood that they will look back on with nostalgia.

This is a wonderful film!! It's like you're young again.
Sleepovers are a typical American phenomenon and here are a few who occasionally meet up (at the end of the summer holidays).
Boys meet girls and vice versa, beautifully melancholic, the atmosphere of a sultry evening at the end of the holiday, the first kiss, the first sex, the missed love, the unexpected love....melancholic feel-good film.

Great movie, so lighthearted that not everyone will find it entertaining!
Still, everyone here is quite positive about the film and it is getting good reviews!
The story follows several teenagers (young people) who spend the night/party together.
Each character has their own story in the film, this story is well combined with each other and also alternates well, making it easy to follow.
The execution of it comes across as (deliberately) slow at times and tries to build up a tense moment. Throughout the film there is a friendly atmosphere of the actors.
The casting is also quite good and the acting is also convincing, the actors are often lit with a sharp close-up.
Nice movie.

Mitchell dispels the idea that American teen parties are a mix of vandalism, sex, drugs, booze and related misbehavior by following a group of teenagers (played by real teenagers) in Detroit on the last day of school, which is also the freshman orientation. There is certainly beer and liquor, but there is no loud music and the youngsters sit quietly chatting with each other or relaxing in front of a bad horror movie. Scott [Brett Jacobson] is heartbroken after Kerri [Megan Boone] broke up with him and goes in search of the twins Ady and Anna [Nikita and Jade Ramsey]; Maggie [Claire Sloma] has a crush on Tom [Danny Agar] and decides to go to his party with her best friend Beth [Annette DeNoyer]; Rob [Marlon Morton] is looking for the beautiful blonde he saw in a supermarket. Probably set in the mid-80s, when there were no cell phones, internet or social media and you had to make an effort to make contact. Refreshing and (pleasantly?) nostalgic, but it's also slow and only intermittently interesting.
