'Almost-documentary', composed of film fragments and archive footage that have been restored, colored and provided with sound, provides a picture of the First World War from the inside. '14-18' tells the fictional story of a young Frenchman who, driven by a thirst for adventure, signs up to fight against the Germans. He tells about his friend Leon, elsewhere at the front, with whom he corresponds, and about his fiancée Marthe.
