Anker & Anker plot

Two-part portrait of twin brothers and lawyers Wim and Hans Anker. The criminal lawyers are among the most prominent in the Netherlands, not least because of their headstrong way of doing things. Part 1 deals with the appeal cases of a pencil peddler and a murder suspect with mafia connections; in part 2 the trial of a young student who twice killed her babies and the dragging with Theo H., the longest serving TBS in the Netherlands. Through these four cases, their vision of contemporary judicial administration also emerges, in which there is little understanding for the increasing eagerness with which judges seem to resort to severe sentences such as lifelong and mandatory TBS. In between, we also get glimpses of their private lives: their love for football club Heerenveen, their commitment to their native village and hometown Akkrum and their bone-dry mutual humor.
