Tijl Van Limburg plot
On the night of September 23, 1971, 21-year-old Mario Roymans cuts the masterpiece The Love Letter by Johannes Vermeer from his frame in the Brussels Center for Fine Arts with a potato knife. Under the pseudonym Tijl Van Limburg, Roymans demands a ransom of 200 million francs for the artwork borrowed from the Netherlands. With this he wants to help the needy people of Bangladesh.
