La Vida de los Peces plot

The film follows 33-year-old Andrès at a party. He has spent most of his life abroad and is about to leave Chile for good. We follow Andrès in real time – the 83 minutes of the film correspond exactly to the time he spends at the party – and his encounters with people he knows from his childhood. Andrès is confronted with who he is and which doors are closed by choices he has made in the past. A meeting with Beatriz, his former girlfriend, may offer him a chance to change his life again.

Superb performances in this honest film with a gripping ending. Reminded me of a popular song from a few years ago "How glad I am that I have not forgotten you", but then "...with other people in our hearts and in our homes...".

People live among each other and make choices, may regret it, cherish memories, but reality is usually stronger.

And how do you explain the title of the film? Fish also live together, find their own way, but their boundaries are also limited. Is that it?

Good movie.

Boring and completely unnecessary film without substance unless you consider chatting about your childhood memories and childhood loves interesting. The title is well chosen, because the only thing I will remember from this film are the beautiful images of the aquarium, which says a lot! A funny moment is the adult questions the children ask the main character. Another waste of time. The film only lasted a good 80 minutes, but it seemed to go on forever. It must have been a very big house with all those rooms. Just 2 stars.

Andrès is a travel blogger and often lives abroad. Exotic destinations, tourist attractions, nice terraces and culinary pampering tips... it's all part of his job description. All seems nice. Yet he wishes to settle down permanently somewhere abroad and seeks out his roots one more time. He meets them at a party.

The conversations, which are often very chatty and mundane, make him realize that little has built up, that he has little to hold on to. His friends now have children or are in a stable relationship or circle of friends. He gradually realizes that everything is fleeting for him.

Not a movie for everyone I think. The scene with the aquarium is visually quite nice, but for many it remains very superficial. One for the arthouse lovers.
