All those prizes are also Portuguese awards, which could explain the obscurity of this 'horror film' outside Portugal. Found the DVD by browsing the video store shelves, attracted mostly by the cover/poster, which was also the tastiest horror moment in the film, but far too short.
Anyway, this haunted house film is disappointing as a horror film. Rather, it is the community's suggestions and superstitions degenerating into exorcisms that are interesting. Unfortunately, the clue appears too quickly and frequently, leaving the much-needed tension absent.
Fortunately, it is an extremely successful family drama. An almost disrupted family that moves from the big city to a hole somewhere in the countryside. That asks for problems. Of course, you already feel the ending coming (the many hints woven throughout the film make that no surprise). The way it is depicted, on the other hand, is very beautiful.
Horror fanatics can ignore this unless you are interested in the psychological aspects of superstition.

The makers of Blood Curse are themselves afflicted by a terrible curse, a curse that makes their film extremely boring, lacking in tension and devoid of interesting events. It is extremely special to see how directors Tiago Guedes and Frederico Serra managed to bring such an empty whole to the big screen, but they must have been in no hurry. Apart from a few shadows, a poorly executed séance and many substantive conversations about haunted history and whatnot, the film offers nothing at all. Only the finale finally shows a bit of a kick in the ass, but it's over in no time. Attention is paid several times to both the psychological and emotional aspects of the story, but with this snail's pace and these uninteresting characters, those potentials are not exactly realized. I had to fight to get through every minute of the total 97, but I congratulate myself on making it to the end credits.
