Running the Sahara plot
"Three men attempt to become the first humans to run coast to coast across the Sahara Desert"
Documentary about three men who dared to walk across Africa, from Senegal on the Atlantic coast to Egypt, via Mauritania, Mali and Libya. Two daily marathons across the desert, 80 days apart, that's what the American Charlie Engle, the Taiwanese Kevin Lin and the Canadian Ray Zahab. The three are indeed ultramarathon runners, but what they are now embarking on is a leap into the unknown for them too. We follow them together with their team (a project leader, a doctor and a physiotherapist) during their month-long marathon through the desert. Along the way, they face physical and emotional obstacles. Not only do they encounter exotic and stunned African people, but also themselves regularly.
