"… something to shout about!"

Frank Skeffington is mayor of a city in the eastern US. He is honest and does not make deals at the expense of his citizens. Unfortunately, he has little political support. Good film about a mayor who puts himself up for re-election during the elections. A beautiful political drama that is also quite funny here and there (such as the TV interview with the opponent). The film remains entertaining throughout its length and it's a pleasure to see Spencer Tracy at work here as the mayor. Just not 4.0 stars because of the somewhat too long and sentimental ending.

A bit too caricatured at times, so that there are indeed some (imo) misplaced comedy elements.

But in itself not a bad House of Cards-like film in which manipulation of and by media, church, etc. on politics comes along.

Tracy is completely at home here.
