Vakantie in Eigen Land plot

Joep is on the brink of financial abyss. That is why the family holiday this year will not be a luxurious stay in Portugal, but a trip in our own country. In fact, it is even an escape for its criminal clients. With his wife Claire and daughter Saskia, Joep moves into an old mobile home on a dilapidated campsite. A Sinti family has settled in front of them. Claire and Joep don't like them, but something beautiful blossoms between Saskia and Dukker, the Sinti's son.

Well, a youth film....where about 10 minutes (!!!) is spent talking about the tits of the adulterous mom (no joke). Uhm....it must be my old-fashioned prudishness? Film about the financial crisis and prejudices, solved according to childish conventions. Nice, but not very surprising.

Ballet boy to Dukker: 'Are you an immigrant?'

Thirty seconds later we see him in action with the ballet troupe... with black dancers.

Not a high flyer and sometimes long-winded.

The acting was pretty decent.

Well some unbelievable things, and the poster doesn't match the movie.

Joep [Max van den Burg] has gotten himself into such deep trouble to support his family that Alex [Hajo Bruins] threatens him with death if he doesn't pay off his debts. That's why Joep goes on a "holiday in our own country" with his wife [Lottie Hellingman] and daughter Saskia [Amalia Yuno]. The family ends up in a holiday home where they have a Sinti family as neighbours. Against the wishes of her parents, Saskia becomes friends with her temporary neighbour [Gianni Janzen]. A strange family drama that is lighthearted about parents who hit each other and joyriding children and with an easy, absurd denouement. The observations of the Sinti are amusing and the children do not do badly, but the scenario is very mediocre.
