Hmmm.

Classic romantic film, that is to say not so romantic at all by modern standards and actually a bit creepy. In the meantime I have already seen a number of these types of films, but I continue to be amazed at how relationships turn out in these types of films. Can't imagine this was any reflection of relationships in the 50s.

It's all right that the fooling around went a bit loose, but getting engaged and getting married as if it concerns the choice of a carton of milk is just too strange for me. And anything but romantic. The fact that Sinatra then ends up with his destined wife through some plot twist in one scene doesn't make it much better.

Occasionally some nice light dialogues and a successful joke, but I usually find these types of romantic films quite unpleasant to watch.

1.0*

A simple story but a wonderful atmosphere! The apartment of Charlie, or Sinatra, is very attractive and a dream for just about every bachelor, a real bachelor's flat in fact!

There are also enough nice women from that time to keep it interesting, but for me personally Celeste Holm was the highlight, quite funny since she was already in her late 30s but still managed to grab attention with ease.

Personally, I didn't find the character of Debbie Reynolds very interesting and rather a cliché, but at the same time she wasn't really disturbing either.

Big doubt between a 3 or a 3.5, but at the moment I give the film the benefit of the doubt due to the wonderful atmosphere and the beautiful apartment.

Playboy Sinatra keeps a carousel of ladies whom he keeps on a leash, but is eventually tamed by Princess Reynolds who has already mapped out her married future.

Fortunately, it is all rather light-hearted and Sinatra doesn't just let him walk all over him, although he eventually (according to all the rules) of course still bends his knees.

The chemistry between the players is good and the dialogues funny and original, which makes the film fun to watch

The ladies with their lovely 50s look certainly help .
