This film explores the changing relationship between the people, land and society of France and Egypt. The formal and structural basis of the film consists of two parts: a letter sent by Friedrich Engels to his disciple Karl Kautsky and the Egyptian intellectual Mahmoud Hussein with his problems in Egypt. In the middle is the relationship of the people with their country.
