Until now I only knew the film The Diary of Anne Frank from 1959. A beautiful and moving film, but this adaptation from 2001 is superior to it. The fact that by casting the excellent acting Hannah Taylor-Gordon they have found a look-alike of the real Anne Frank, gives the film extra cachet.

It's been a long time since I've read the diary, but I have the impression that the filmmakers are sticking to Anne's story quite closely. The ample attention paid to her and her family's life before going into hiding and staying in the German camps are welcome additions. You can only question the clear answer to the question of guilt in this film, because despite extensive investigations it has never been established who betrayed the people in hiding.
All in all it is a gripping whole, which regularly gave me goosebumps and which I can recommend to everyone despite the long playing time.

Please refer from this place to the above tips from arno74.
In addition, I would like to mention:
La Rafle (2010) about the raid in Paris in July 1942, which is also the starting point for Elle S''Appellait Sarah .

Sorstalanság (2005) about Hungarian victims of the Holocaust.

Both films, as well as the films to which arno74 refers, are more than worth watching. Like Anne Frank: the Whole Story they deserve a large audience, lest we ever forget!

Reasonable mini-series about the Jewish girl Anne Frank who goes into hiding with her mother and father during the war. As the title suggests, the film is not only limited to the time in the Secret Annex. Hannah Taylor-Gordon is excellently cast as Anne Frank. On the long side, and clearly a TV production here and there.

What more needs to be said about this? Everyone knows Anne Frank, especially in the Netherlands. Still bizarre that we in Belgium do not have our Anne Frank, although there certainly was, only Anne Frank grew into a worldwide symbol against the Holocaust and there is that emptiness with us. Probably also that after the war the emphasis was on (punishment and rehabilitation of) collaboration.

Poignant portrait of the Frank family who, in addition to the Secret Annex, also focuses on the deportation and the concentration camp. Remains impressive and compelling. Apart from the tragic subject, excellent casting and excellent acting.

fairly truthful rendering of the diary. The traitor may be a bit more prominent here, but that will depend on the cinematic premise. The lock on Otto's return to Amsterdam was also interesting. As the sole survivor of his family. Heartbreaking.
