The Lady with a Lamp plot

The film follows the tireless Florence Nightingale's efforts to help the thousands of victims of the Crimean War. To the highest echelons of British government she is 'only' a woman, unlike the honorable Sidney Herbert, the War Secretary, who defends her. Herbert pulls several strings to grant Nightingale and her nurses access to battlefield hospitals and to breathe new life into the history of medicine.
